Cincinnati SEO expert Jon Keel describes how to get higher conversion rates by using videos on your website.
Jon: "You know, in the last six to twelve months, we've seen an explosion in the use of video, and it was really led
by the folks in the marketing industry, which generally happens. They'll be out in front of normal niches, if you will,
by a factor of a year or two. We live in a television society. That is a fact. And people are into multi-sensory things
so that while written content is still important, the use of video attracts those people who are into TV. And there are
a lot of people into TV. We have seen improved conversion rates on sites, specifically on landing pages that we've
created for clients, as high as 50 to 60% over the non use of video. So if you're not using video, I hope you're a
competitor of one of our clients, because they will whip ya. And I just encourage you to start using video as soon
as you can. We're not talkin a big deal here. Most intro videos - I've just got a sample video on my screen right now-
and this thing is only about a minute long. But it introduces people to the page. The other thing that's cool about
video in terms of conversion, is that you can tell the visitor what to do. Visitors need to be told what to do. I don't
think it's people who are on the internet, but in our opinion, most people are pretty lazy, and they don't want to do
a whole lot of work, so you could use video to - for example, I have an opt-in form on my page, and I say 'and by
the way, before you leave' and you point to the opt-in form, to tell them what to do. You'll see improvements in
conversion rates that will blow you away."
